Comics Radar began as the Geek4x4 Comics & Entertainment Podcast. Geek4x4 began in May of 2005 as basically a place for me to talk about whatever, frequently comics and my favorite bands. Eventually, I decided I wanted to refocus because at the time there were not as many podcasts about comics and there was still a large abscence of coverage on a large number of books, so Comics Radar was started to be the voice of the large number of comics that aren’t covered anywhere else. Luckily, now there is a larger number of podcasts that cover all areas of comics. But Comics Radar still has the goal of bringing you info on the latest and greatest comics you may be overlooking.
HOST: JM Campbell
What can be said about John (JM when he’s trying to be professional) Campbell? The guy is a freaking Rock Star. He’s a graduate student at FSU’s School of Library and Information Studies. He works in a county library and also works as a radio producer and board operator.
That’s actually how he got into podcasting. He was introduced to podcasting via Warren Ellis‘ Bad Signal email list at the same time as he was starting an Intership at Real Radio 94.3 in West Palm Beach, FL, an open format talk radio station.
He still works in West Palm Beach, FL with Clearchannel, although not with Real Radio as much as he would like.
John’s family grew in 2007 due to his wife to a beautiful baby girl, Serenity, who takes him away from the mic as much as she possibly can, when she doesn’t want to be on it.
COHOST: Matt Melnyk
Matt is a register jockey at the local comic shop. He works 6 days a week in a job he loves and gives his honest opinion, to a fault, on anything and everything in the world of comics, games, and all related nerdity.

Love to add you to our press list. What’s the right email address?
Hi guys! Just wanted to say I had the Voltron TOY ROBOT that was made from all the little ships, cars, and vehicles! I hated the lions, they sucked! Anyway I am a 37 year old dude who collected comics from about 15 to 22 and then they just got too expensive for me :-P I miss 0.75 cent comics! Ha! But I was hardcore and often wander into shops, watch all the movies, and listen to podcasts ( I actually have 3 or 4 cases of comics in my closet :). Just wanna say I’ve been listening to you guys since your very early episodes and alway enjoy your witty banter. I also love some of the obscure stuff you guys discuss that goes back to comics and video games from my time. I remember the Odyssey console, colecovision (which is probably spelled wrong), atari or course and I still have a fully functional NES which my wife and I use to practice our Tetris wizardry. Anyway I grew up in broward county and just moved to Tucson Arizona and just want to thank you guys for a little piece of home, which of course is your podcast, cause you guys were in my back yard. Just wanted to say thanks for the laughs and knowledge! Keep’em coming.
Can you post pictures of your studio?
