Well I got told. But I still think most people who bought the comic would have played the game first. The cross media promotional aspect of the title was planned that way after all.

Next episode, I’m going to try writing some stuff out in advance and review 2 books in the podcast, (So both books win, yay.)
I think a month down the line, I’ll also follow up and read the second issues of the series to see if they improve, keep consistent or drop off. Sound good?

As far as reviewing something I wasn’t interested in, that’s not entirely true. I wanted the book to give me interest in the game. I wanted to know about the story of the world, because there’s also a pen and paper RPG, that I am really interested in. I went with a 6 because I assumed there was content in there for people that have played the game, and it told an acceptable story, if a bit rushed. But it didn’t serve the main purpose of a first issue, it didn’t make me want to pick up issue 2, it also didn’t serve as being a tie-in because it didn’t interest me enough to check out the game. I probably eventually will, but nothing that I saw in the comic said the game was anything more than the other 57 fantasy computer/console RPG games I’ve played.

Hey dude. Yet again a great idea. Though FYI Dragon Age is on 360, PS3 and PC. I must also question the wisdom of previewing a comic that is so tied into a video game that you have not played and have no interest in playing. It just really shows. Not that I didn’t enjoy your rambling over the plot. Bare in mind so much of what you are missing when it comes to the story can be found in the game.

John – I’m thrilled that you are using the CR platform to experiment and I like the notion of #1 reviews.

Now it’s time for my humble opinion (please take it as such) : I found the story summary a little too in-depth (and a tad ramble on) Tighten up the summary a bit would be my advice. And perhaps a solid statement at the end to recommend or not picking up the title (although I’m guessing one could make an inference from the review, a bold statement or even a “CR/John Rating Scale” would be helpful.

Further thoughts: I would encourage you not to feel constrained by one title an episode – With a tightened plot summary you could easily fit two into a 15 min episode (if that is the length you a shooting for) and doing multiple issues (especially from different publishers) you are more likely to hit a issue that appeals to your vastly diverse audience (that’s right VASTLY DIVERSE! you can quote me on that)

Looking forward to another CR episode which is hopefully in the works!
