The Doctor does get younger with each regeneration. That I think this latest jump is a bit extreme going from someone in their 40s to someone in their 20s.

From the Regeneration Wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regeneration_(Doctor_Who)

Producer Innes Lloyd further suggested that the Doctor could do this "renewal" regularly, transforming from an older man to a younger one. This would allow for the convenient recasting of the role when necessary.

I remember watching Party Animals, which was about the staff of a politician. If I recall correctly, his brother was a lobbyist who had the better part. He was the responsible, careful one on the show.

The rest of the cast had much better parts now that I think about it. He seemed to be the one that the audience was supposed to be to relate with.

Is it just me or does the Doctor get younger with each regeneration?
