Yesterday, Wizard put out this announcement. Wizard World Texas has been cancelled for 2009 and Wizard World LA has been postponed. (I’ll assume indefinitely since they haven’t announced a date it has been moved to.)
This kind of disappoints me.
Now, I’ve never been to either of these cons, but I’ve always wanted to go to the Texas Con. I don’t know why. I guess I’m just looking for something I’d actually like about the state besides the barbecue.
And if I’m going to the west coast, it’s going to be for Comicon or Emerald City Comicon. Of course, I’ve also never been to Heroescon which is a mere 12 hours away. So, I still have plenty of Cons to experience.
I pan on Wizard a lot, but I do give them props for growing the fanbase and hosting the events they do. I hope this is a reflection of the countries economic issues, rather than the slow death of Wizard it seems we’ve been watching for so long.
