So, DC has announced their “After Watchmen” promo, talking about the titles a read should jump on after being in love with the Watchmen film.
They suggest:
· ALL-STAR SUPERMAN VOL. 1
· BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM
· BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS
· BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE
· EX MACHINA VOL. 1: THE FIRST HUNDRED DAYS
· FABLES VOL. 1: LEGENDS IN EXILE
· IDENTITY CRISIS
· JOKER
· KINGDOM COME
· THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN VOL. 1
· PLANETARY BOOK 1: ALL OVER THE WORLD AND OTHER STORIES
· PREACHER VOL.1: GONE TO TEXAS
· RONIN
· SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING
· THE SANDMAN VOL. 1: PRELUDES AND NOCTURNES
· SUPERMAN: RED SON
· TRANSMETROPOLITAN VOL. 1: BACK ON THE STREET
· WE3
· Y: THE LAST MAN — UNMANNED
· V FOR VENDETTA
Of course, all of their recommendations are DC books.
But there are other publishers than DC out there, so, what titles would you recommend?
I have to give this a little thought, I’ll give you my list on Sunday, Mar 15, when Comics Radar does its next live episode. Hope to see you there.
512-52-COMIC
Is that list supposed to be targeted toward moviegoers who *haven’t* read Watchmen? In that case, should Watchmen (the GN) be after Watchmen (the movie)? LOL.
(Psst, by the way, your comment on my blog (this one: http://bit.ly/tvlQV) got caught in spam because of that awesome Youtube clip … sorry about that!)
I don’t know if I’d want to read Watchmen shortly after watching it if I was new to comics. 3 hours of film then X hours of graphic novel on almost exact same idea may be a bit of burn out. I can see going to something different.
Say, Brubaker’s Sleeper, then May or June picking up the Watchmen GN to prep for the DVD so you can really study the nuance of recreation that Snyder hammered into the film.
