If you haven’t checked out X-factor for the shocking revelations in X-factor 39 or 40, maybe this post by Peter David will do the trick:
I’ve decided that I’m going to take the opposite approach to promoting X-Factor from what I’ve been using in the past months. Instead of keeping the lid on, I’ll push specific events.
In upcoming issues, Layla goes toe-to-toe against Doctor Doom and Monet gets naked and gets it on with Darwin.

Meh, yet another X book. I shall pass.
You’re really missing out if you dismiss X-factor as just another X-book.
Post House of M/Decimation. I gave up on all the X books except this one. It’s now 41 issues in and I’m still pulling it every month. Only the second comic I’ve been this consistent on (Invincible being the other and it got very close to coming off the pull list a couple times now.)
It’s really one of the best comics in the marvel u. (I’d put Deadpool and Captain Britain as the other Marvel books that qualifies as my subjective best) It takes itself seriously with out being overly grim and gritty. Every character is fully realized, no “snikt, bub” simplifications. You fall right into the X-factor world.
If you like shows like Bones, Life on Mars, or NBC’s Life; novels like Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files or Patricia Briggs’ Mercy thompson; or podcasts like J.C. Hutchins 7th so, you should check out X-factor.
Like Captain Britain and Deadpool, I think it really is weakened by it’s X-book association than anything.
Issue 39 is one of those issues that gives new weight to the medium. Do yourself a favor and pick up that issue, if you can find one. Or pick up the Madrox trade, it’s a great stand alone collection that exemplifies what you’ll find in the series.

Sadly I can’t say I do like any of those… I am just not an Xmen fan. But I must say, I really got told in that reply. I am always willing to try a new book, so maybe I shall take a look at this and bump something less worthy, like Marvel Zombies volume 4 issue 1. ;-)
