If I haven’t mentioned it before there were 2 instances that started me down my path to Comic Geekdom.
One was my uncle buying me a Marvel Comics Collectors Starter Set.
The other that I don’t mention as much was finding a huge stack of old beaten up comics hidden in the bathroom, while cleaning up the house. I don’t mention these a whole lot because I fell horrible about what I did.
I found out these were my brothers comics, my mother said I could have them. I promptly turned around and sold them at the Flea Market for a tidy profit. (Tidy for a preteen with no expenses) That’s right I was the tool by which my mother threw out his old comics. Of course before I sold a single issue, I read through the entire stack in the span of two weekends. A good majority of them were the old Jonah Hex comics. He even had the first issue of the, from what I recall, awful Sci-fi Spinoff ‘Hex.’
I’ve since done as much restitution as I could, I bought him Showcase Presents: Jonah Hex, Vol. 1 (Amazon link) as well as the first 25 or so issues of the new series.
But anyways, that was always the one comic he would geek over. He has the Jonah Hex Heroclix and the action figure. And he will definitely geek over this shot of Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex. Hope I can go see it with him. I figure the movie ticket may be just the thing to finally soothe my conscience for all those lost comics.
And Brolin does look awesome, though I was hoping he’d be a little more fucked up around the eye, maybe they’ll CG it like they did Two-face.
Do you have any old comic sins you’re trying to pay off? What do you think of Brolin?
Oh and here’s some pics of Megan Fox as Leila, but that’s just a hot chick in a corset, nobody is interested in that right?

Well those pics certainly work. I really need to read some of this Western comic stuff. Looks kinda cool.
I can really recommend the newest Jonah Hex series written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti. The artist changed every few issues so it could be hit or miss, more miss than hit in the teen issues, if I recall correctly. But the series writing is consistently above board and is written in single issues and short 2-3 issue arcs. I think they have their first 6 issue arc coming soon, now 40 odd issues in.
There were also some vertigo minis of Jonah Hex, that were more gritty and lost a lot of the feel of the classic books, introducing some heavy supernatural elements, but may be more up your alley if you like more violence in your comics.
