Is this a Fanboy Rant? Yes.
Am I being a little too Critical? Yep.
Has DC Comics/Warner Brothers already messed up this Franchise? Oh Yeah.
So where to begin….
Rumors of a Green Lantern Live Action Movie have
been flooding around the internet for years.
I always regarded them as hearsay or fanboy’s wet dreams.
Then in 2009, there was a small glimmer of light.
Warner Brothers had announced that a Green Lantern Movie was in the works and that the plot would focus around Hal Jordan.
I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Finally, some DC Comics Movie news that didn’t revolve around Batman III or the aborted Justice League Movie.
Then another announcement, Martin Campbell would be Directing the Flick.
Great choice for director. He does know his way around an action movie.
$200 million was the rumored budget and Warner Brothers found their Writers.
And the story would take place in Outer Space and Oa.
All of the pieces were falling into place.
And then the Bombshell hit…..
Van Wilder himself, Ryan Reynolds is going to play Hal Jordan.
My jaw hit the ground.
Everyone from Nathan Fillion to Justin Timberlake
were rumored to be in the running for the coveted role.
Then Warner’s threw everyone a curveball. Ryan Reynolds…Really???
Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy. He’s made me laugh on several occasions.
Wally West’s Flash, yes. Deadpool, yes. Booster Gold, yes. But he’s no Hal Jordan.
But when all is said and done, he’s still going to be the Green Lantern.
Whether I like it or not.
I accepted the idea of Ryan Reynolds as the leading man and then came the latest announcement last Saturday.
Blake Lively was cast as Carol Ferris and possible future Star Sapphire.
She’s best known for being the Blonde Haired girl in the “Traveling Pants” movies
or the main character on the CW show, “Gossip Girl”.
The one thing that DC has always shown was that Hal and Carol grew up together.
Her daddy ran Ferris Aircraft and his flew the experimental aircraft.
And they’re about the same age, give or take a year or two.
But what’s the age difference in our two actors? 11 years.
In the upcoming movie, Hal Jordan won’t grow up with Carol,
he’ll be her babysitter.
And at that point, I’m done with this movie.
Yet again, Marvel Studios is way ahead
when it comes to making movies. I honestly feel better after
getting that off of my chest.

So guys,
Should I tell him about Spider-man 4?
No, I think I’ll wait until the podcast. It’s going to break his heart.
Trust me, my heart wasn’t broken about that news.
